A treasure hunter from New Mexico has disclosed that his chest containing gold, diamonds, and other items with a combined retail value of over one million dollars has been discovered.
Forrest Fenn established a devoted fan base after he divulged, ten years ago, that he had concealed a chest in the Rocky Mountains in some unspecified location.
After a decade of searching, a treasure estimated to be worth more than one million dollars was discovered in the Rocky Mountains.
Tens of thousands of others were inspired by him to embark on a journey in quest of his riches, but nobody was ever successful in claiming the reward until now.
Fenn originally conceived of the treasure hunt as a way to leave behind a legacy. In 1989, he was diagnosed with a form of cancer that was incurable, but he was able to beat it. He said that one of his goals was to entice people to go into the wilderness and provide them with an opportunity for a classic quest for wealth.
He claimed on the website that the chest contained pre-Columbian animal sculptures, gold nuggets and coins, Chinese jade faces, emerald jewelry, and other unusual objects. The contents of the chest were mentioned on the website.
He buried the treasure in 2010, and he provided hints as to its location on his website as well as in a poem that he included in his memoirs titled “The Thrill of the Chase.”
Fenn informed the New Mexican that there were approximately 350,000 people looking for the wealth, and that many of them resigned their jobs in order to do so. Unfortunately, a small number of people lost their lives during the quest for the gold.
Now, a bright orange banner with the words “Fenn’s Treasure was recovered in 2020 – the chase is finished” has been displayed on the website.
“It was under a canopy of stars in the rich, forested foliage of the Rocky Mountains, and it had not moved from the position where I concealed it more than ten years ago,” Fenn, who is now 89 years old, said in a statement that was published on his website. “I hid it there more than a decade ago.”
The Rocky Mountains have revealed the location of a treasure chest that had been concealed there.
“I do not know the guy who discovered it, but the poetry in my book led him to the exact area where it was hidden.”
The hunter who found the wealth was given a number of different recommendations for what to do next on Fenn’s website. These recommendations included how to sell the treasure and even how to re-hide the gold.
His one and only requirement was that whichever path you choose, the excitement of the pursuit should be maintained and the legend should be passed on.
