The Koh Chang Grand Lagoona Resort, commonly known as the “Ghost Ship Hotel” or Galaxy Hotel, is an abandoned hotel that was shuttered for “renovations” a few years ago but never reopened.

It is one of Thailand’s most haunted and desolate locations. It began as a wild fantasy resort on the far southwestern tip of the island in a little secluded Laguna, with ships converted into floating hotels servicing visitors who have since left. The resort is now virtually vacant, with a massive ghost cruise ship trapped on shore since 2016.

This ship was formerly a cruise liner that was abandoned on the shore, transformed as a luxury hotel, and then abandoned again! Locals refer to it as the “ghost ship” (or don’t talk about it at all) because people have died by jumping over the top, and possibly because it’s eerie as hell.

The region where the boat is located is actually an abandoned resort. The entire resort has a bunch of smaller cabins and such that are also abandoned, but the oddest thing is that half of them are destroyed and dirty on the inside, but the other half are very organized and clean, as if housekeeping had gone through recently, despite the fact that they smell pretty bad. There are a few Thai individuals in the neighborhood who must be maintaining the rooms, albeit none of them are utilized because none of them have running water or electricity.

The entire region is incredibly gorgeous and creepy; exploring the resort with perhaps excellent picture chances is a lot of fun. If you feel too hot from sightseeing, there is also a lovely and relatively deserted beach nearby. It provides you a firsthand view at what life would be like after the apocalypse.
