Explore a “abandoned artist mansion” in rural France that has been allowed to decay.

A magnificent home in rural France has mysteriously been abandoned.

A 21-year-old urban explorer gained notoriety recently for his unsettling tour of the dilapidated property.

“I happened upon this incredible, deserted artist mansion rather unexpectedly while traveling to another location,” the adventurer Yannick described his discovery of the residence to Jam Press.

As a frequent traveler of dilapidated buildings, Yannick parked his car, navigated the overgrown yard, and entered, where he was astounded by the massive rooms’ “countless paintings” and severely peeling paint.

“Entering the mansion felt like stepping into a different world,” said Yannick, a self-described “abandoned world explorer” from Germany.

The estate, albeit unoccupied, seemed strangely unempty, too: Among the many personal belongings that remained were cushions on sofas, tables, chairs, a piano, and a journal, all of which were probably there when the area was abandoned. When the business and economics student began to investigate the history of the location, he discovered that the house had been abandoned since 2004. The student posts videos of his exploits on TikTok under the handle UrbexGuide.

He stated, “I’m very sure the people that lived there didn’t have the financial opportunities to renovate the mansion, because some parts of the home [were] halfway through renovation works.” The property formerly belonged to a well-known artist who had a propensity for grandeur.
