A lead was provided to me regarding a vacant school in the state of South Carolina three years ago. On the way from Raleigh to South Carolina, we made the journey into a day trip by driving the back roads and seeing the sights along the way. There were rumors that the school was haunted, which I both heard and read about. There is no denying that it exudes an eerie air!
When you enter the school through the main entrance, you will notice that the middle section has collapsed all the way down to the basement.
The creep effect was particularly bad in the back area, which is also where the basement is situated. Aside from the light from the flashes on our cameras, it was completely dark. Throughout the flash, I kept having this recurring dream that I was being chased by a girl with long hair, similar to the character from the movie “The Ring.” Lol.
The foundation for this school was laid in 1918, and construction didn’t wrap up until 1920. It was indeed extremely remarkable in terms of its construction! Bricks originating from Europe were used in the production of these.
It was named in honor of Robert Fletcher, who passed away on October 7, 1918, while serving in World War I. Mustard gas poisoning was the cause of his death. His remains was transported all the way from Europe to be laid to rest in the Fletcher Family Cemetery, which is located nearby.
The Fletchers were farmers and enjoyed a good deal of financial success. The family was the owner of 1,800 acres in South Carolina and 2,100 acres in North Carolina throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, respectively. They constructed the school as a memorial to him in his honor. In 1924, the Fletcher family had the idea of expanding the school into a college, but their proposal was denied by the state assembly.
