Abandoned 1891 Mooreland Mansion Sold for $78K in Harrodsburg, Kentucky

Historic Mooreland Mansion, originally known as Ashfeld Manor, has been sitting empty and exposed to the elements for quite some time despite being one of the largest and most interesting buildings in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. The sale of the mansion was recorded as having taken place on May 22, 2020, with the buyer paying $78,101. On April 18, 2020, the house and surrounding 2.96 acres went up for sale for $49,500; just four days later, on April 22, they were marked as pending.

Although the architect of the 1891 Romanesque Revival home erected by Colonel Daniel Lawson Moore for his wife Miss Minnie Ball is unknown, comparisons have been made to the work of Clarke & Loomis. Before its current ownership, the Mooreland Mansion was purchased by a bank at a foreclosure auction for $329,465. According to the most up-to-date advertisement, the property is a construction lot with a house already on it. No one may enter the house because of health and safety concerns. All property is sold “as is, where is.” I appreciate the Bluegrass Team taking the pictures.
